Jericho – Season 2 – Episode 5 – “Termination for Cause”
CBS

CBS

marmot: Howdy

manatee: Hi! Did you enjoy your TV viewing experience last night?

marmot: I did, actually. Since there wasn't much new on, besides Jericho, I watched Saturday Night Live from...Saturday. Amy Adams was the host. Let me tell you if she was a marmot, or I was a human... We would go out to a nice dinner.

manatee: Cute Marmot.

marmot: But enough about SNL. What did you think of Jericho?

manatee: I loved it! It was so good, just what I was looking or after last week's episode. I'm almost disappointed that there's only 2 episodes left.

marmot: I totally agree. BEST EPISODE EVER. Of Jericho. This was the suspenseful, action-packed, dramatic, emotional episode that this show should have been since the beginning.

manatee: Agreed.

marmot: Of course, being Jericho, there were still some stupid parts. Mainly the cops arguing over if they would fit through that hole. But it paid off well.

manatee: Funny you should bring up the hole part, I was wondering if they were just trying to throw in some comic relief.

marmot: It was so poorly timed.

manatee: Overall, I loved the action, loved the emotional scenes... even the cheesy good bye from Stanley (signing to a dead deaf girl). But I think we got what we needed. Jericho is on the cusp of a revolution.

marmot: I actually really liked the scene with Stanley signing to his sister. It wasn't over the top or corny, which is what we've come to expect from the show. Although I do have to say, the lighting in that scene was terrible. Stanley looked like he was glowing.

manatee: I really enjoyed the pace throughout the show, and I loved the ending. I'm really looking forward to the loose strings (revolving around the bomb) being tied up. I'm not really sure that the "conspiracy" company owned government thing is working for me - it's not mysterious, it's more like just plain confused. But the issues it raises are interesting... like who is that guy on the phone with Hawkins? And what's going on in the Eastern states? Will the last 2 episodes be an "American revolution" and Season 3 the "Civil War?"

marmot: Will there be a Season 3? That's an unresolved question.

manatee: If fans send enough nuts or nuclear bombs or black market vaccines or new writers, maybe we could persuade CBS to bring it back again.

marmot: I LOVED the ending as well. That had to have been the most satisfying moment in CBS television history. The Blackwater, excuse me, Ravenwood guy was BEGGING to get shot in the head. Since Season 1 and who does it? STANLEY! Now Stanley can go on his rampage! Shoot Jake in the head! Then Eric! Then Dale! Then Hawkins! Do it, Stanley do it! You're the King of Jericho now!

manatee: That was a very touching moment with Stanley, killing out of revenge.

marmot: It was, actually. Then Stanley can cross over and shoot Jack and Kate on LOST!

manatee: He's the new serial killer!

marmot: He can go after Dexter! And Prison Break! And then the final showdown, Stanley vs. Jack Bauer for KING OF TV

manatee: Jack would win for sure.

marmot: Okay, calm down, Marmot. It was a great moment, though. He had enough conviction to reconsider before he pulled the trigger, then get sick over it. Nicely played.

manatee: I also liked Mimi's reaction to the news about Bonnie's death. I thought the actress (Alicia Coppola) played that well. Very natural.

marmot: She really did. I was surprised at the amount of restraint in last night's episode. Now I'm really looking forward to the last 2 episodes. If they are as good as last night, it might nearly make up for suffering though the 27 previous ones.

manatee: Why are we such suckers for bad TV?!

marmot: I think because there's no good TV on right now. I was watching American Gladiators a month ago, so this is a welcome improvement.

manatee: At least that's better than the Bad Girl's Club... (I can't believe I admitted I have watched that before)!

marmot: What is that?

manatee: A really bad show on Oxygen about X amount of "Bad Girls" living in a house together. Like the Real World but with just females! Scary!

marmot: I saw a show on either Oxygen or Lifetime or OH about these women that went back to college in their 40s – it was a sitcom.

manatee: Yeah Bad Girls is much worse. Check it out some time! Or better yet, don't. Let's wait for more bad scripted network TV!

marmot: Let this be a lesson to all the kids out there: watching bad TV is important, because how else would you recognize the good?
