Special Feature: The Mythical, Mystical Grey Wolf Answers Your TV Law Questions
MandM: (re: Moonlight, "Click") Would an Assistant district attorney show up at a crime scene before the cops to run a murder investigation? Would he have to answer to some sort of detective or vice versa?
Grey Wolf: It's not likely that the DA's office would be at a crime scene, unless it is part of a special task force working a special investigation that relates to something at the crime scene like if a witness in an ongoing investigation is murdered or the anti-gang task force. Also, the DA's office would never take control of a crime scene like they did in last Friday's episode of Moonlight. They have no hands-on experience with handling evidence at a crime scene and would not want to involve themselves in the investigation. They only get it after the investigation is complete and it's time to prosecute someone for the crime. There are times that ADA's go to observe what's going on and they may be asked questions, but it is unlikely they would be in control of the investigation.
